Week with the Grandsons
Bundled in their blankets in the basement half
asleep,
Watching cartoons quietly they hardly make a
peep,
Grandpa, Grandma upstairs making breakfast just
like bees;
Soon the house will bustle with the day’s
activities.
Grandpa goes to work as Grandma fixes all the
beds,
Boys are getting dressed right now then Grandma
combs their heads,
Off to pool or park to play to blow off all the
steam,
Grandma keeps her schedule tight as coach for
any team.
Each night the family’s reunited for the
evening fun,
This week they all have VBS so off to church
they run,
To learn how God takes care of us; how Jesus
loves us all,
And, home again; get P.J.’s on as in to bed
they fall.
The week has flown so quickly boys are back in
parents care,
They chatter ‘bout all they have done as they
went here and there,
And, Grandpa, Grandma sit upon the quiet porch
and miss,
The constant joy they had this week, and smile
and reminisce.
