Crowns of Faith

Crowns of Faith

Run the race to win the prize,
Regardless of your strength or size,
The crown that lasts forevermore,
When Christ within our hearts adore.

When friends of faith surround us here,
We spread the Gospel far and near,
The crown that sees rejoicing grow,
When Christ within their souls know.

Discipleship is our desire,
Endurance with a burning fire,
The crown of glory here at last,
When Christ within our minds are cast.

Though others tear and oft demean,
No hardship felt in Heav’n unseen,
The crown of life is our firm ground,
When Christ’s within and faith is found.

So, Lord I give my life to you,
My heart, my mind, my soul be true,
The crown of righteousness e’er sought,
Through Christ’s atoning love He brought!

Good Cereal/Bad Cereal

Good Cereal/Bad Cereal

Second childhood, Cap’n Crunch,
Grab a handful, eat a bunch,
Breakfast was my healthy start,
Honed it to a well-fit art.

Quaker oats, Old Fashioned kind,
Peeled an apple of its rind,
Sliced and minced, into the pot,
Heat the water boiling hot.

Add some raisins for some fun,
Cook five minutes ‘til it’s done,
Another fruit, my only side,
Berries, orange they satisfied.

For months and months and then a slip,
Some Raisin Bran one grocery trip,
Life cereal was my next fall,
My “sugar high” in upward crawl.

But, Cap’n Crunch was the defeat,
(Last night it was an evening treat),
I brought it home, my wife was pale,
I said, “We saved! It was on sale!”

The Wind

The Wind

It’s the whistling wind,
Cozy in the corner,
Mind now swept away from my book,
And, drawn to the sound,
My imagination leaps up,
Up and away,
One glance more,
To the lines on the pages,
People with problems,
Solving issues in life,
But, I’m drawn,
Torn,
Distracted by the howling,
Wondering,
From where the wind came,
Where it is going,
And, why it draws me so,
That invisible source,
I see the effects,
Leaves dancing,
Tall grasses swaying,
All the colors of autumn,
The browns and beiges,
Reds, orange and yellow,
And, that blue, blue sky,
That’s it!
I’m drawn to heaven,
Because,
Heaven it is!

Beautiful Morn

Beautiful Morn

Sun sifts sparsely through the trees,
Bright and brisk the autumn breeze,
Lifts her skirted leaves to show,
Tops and bottoms, dancing so.

Grass still growing dewy light,
Glassy beads on each blade bright,
Darkest hue of evergreen,
It lifts my soul, this autumn scene.

Raise my eyes to skies so blue,
Rare to see a cloud or two,
As the birds soar, flying by,
This moment filled with silent sigh!

In awesome wonder here I stand,
Designed by You, creation grand,
I lift my voice, to God I praise,
All thankfulness to You I raise!
