Thanksgiving with Family

Thanksgiving with Family

Gather family; one and all,
‘Round the festive banquet hall,
Greet each one with hug and kiss,
Hearts o’er flow with inner bliss.

Touch a face with gentle hand,
Sense the warmth in smiles so grand,
Children cheer and swiftly race,
Toward their grandma’s soft embrace.

Aunts and uncles; cousins, too,
Catch up on their lives anew,
Reminisce the younger day,
And, fondly miss those passed away.

Turkey, gravy, pumpkin pie,
Savoring all with gleeful sigh,
Stories told ‘bout family,
Escapades and history.

‘Round the hearth we settle now,
As sun descends with final bow,
And, thanking God with inner prayer,
For our dear family gathered there!

My Girl in the Garden

My Girl in the Garden (Happy Birthday!)

I see you in the garden,
I see the girl I love,
The one I fell in love with,
You were seventeen,
And, it was September,
College days,
I was eighteen,
In November,
You were eighteen, too,
The same age as me,
In February I turned nineteen,
It would be nine more months,
Until we were the same age, again,
You have always called that,
An important nine months,
Younger than me, again,
I laugh every time I think of that,
You make me laugh,
You make me smile,
Happy Birthday, Sweetheart,
I love you,
My girl in the garden!

Violet Isabella

Violet Isabella
So there you are our heart and soul!
An angel to make our life whole,
In Mommy’s arms you make your bed,
In love to rest an angel’s head.

As Daddy stands in pride so pure,
To fold you in his love secure,
And, as you breathe your baby’s sighs,
Your Mom and Dad sing lullabies.

The Art of Living

The Art of Living

In art of living take the brush,
In every moment; every rush-
Apply the paint by ounce and ounce,
Incorporate the trounce and bounce.

Oh, see the joy in roll-of-eye,
Or tippy twirling girls go by,
The laugh or whine, the smile and grin,
Elation in the game they win.

There’s falling down with scraping knee,
But, loving touch in mom they see-
With colored band aids from the box,
Then soft caress through tender locks.

Each stroke upon the canvas bears,
Great art for everyone who dares-
To take the brush of living art,
And, finish all with loving heart!

Autumn Sun

Autumn Sun

Tall trees all wrapped in autumn sun,
As angled beams make colors run,
Upon the dewy orange and red,
How spirit’s lifted, filled and fed.

Small waves upon the lake now dance,
Fair mingled with fall's light romance,
They play and bounce; as thousands strong,
All flood my heart with inner song.

As wonder seizes season’s change,
The prism moves to rearrange,
The path now bathed in angled light,
A sensuous, soulful beauty bright!
