Sleep My Baby (A Lullaby)

Sleep My Baby (A Lullaby)

Sleep my baby close your eyes,
Papa sings a lullaby,
Mama holds you oh so near,
We both love our baby dear.

Sleep my baby through the night,
Mama; Papa hold you tight,
More constant than the stars above,
Our God will keep us all in Love!

Surrender

Surrender

Enlightenment is lazy stuff,
Its simple mind I must rebuff,
Its only pow’r to rip and rend,
Its banner flag a huge dead end.

Whoo, whoo, let’s rally to that hill,
Depression mounts I’ll take that pill,
I’ve visited the gates of Hell,
All bent and broke my spirits fell.

In shower naked on my knees,
And, shaking, sobbing with my pleas,
“Okay, my LORD your will not mine”,
“My life is yours with your design”.

A very scary prayer is this!
Surrender me to blind abyss?
An instant grand the power I felt,
Throughout my being where I knelt!

This power was Jesus’ not my own,
Pure intellect was over thrown,
I felt all whole with power divine!
True life with God and Christ is mine!

My life now filled with God’s pure love,
In red spring flow’r; blue sky above,
And, every child that laughs with glee,
It’s God’s creation that I see!

Three Robins Play

Three Robins Play

Three Robins play,
Beneath the leafless, twiggy lilac bush,
More work than play, I’d say,
Busily moving leaves,
Finding stems and very small twigs,
Off they fly, and back again,
A home to build,
Before they can really play,
And, later she may lay,
Those baby blue eggs,
The next generation,
Of Robin babies!

Every Letter of Your Life

Every Letter of Your Life

I know you don’t think I’m lookin’,
Ever since you became my wife,
Oh, babe, babe I’ve bookin’,
On every letter of your life.

I saw just saw you this mornin’
Black slacks and those roses,
On your blouse, give me warnin’
That’s what I’d a choses!

When we settle in the night times,
Side by side, and  hips by hips,
Tender glances; heartbeat climbs,
Nothing better: lips on lips!

(On lips on lips, etc!)

Dancing with My Grandson

Dancing with My Grandson

I have a grandson, very young, and he is such a joy,
There is a rainbow, bright balloons, and sparkles in this boy,
If you are blue, or down and out, or in your little funk,
Oh, he will patch that holey hull before your boat has sunk.

Yes, he can dance and smile and laugh as light as springtime breeze,
He shouts, Get up, now Grandpa, dance, please, Grandpa DANCE, oh, PLEASE!”
So Grandpa looks at Grandma, we both smile and chuckle, too,
And, soon the goofy three of us are quite the dancing crew!

With, “Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” or even “Twinkle Star,”
A bit of luck, an agent, knock on doors, we could go far,
And, far enough is measured by a million, million miles,
To see my grandson’s, or granddaughter’s lovely, lovely smiles!

Last Snow of Winter

Last Snow of Winter

As our last snow of Winter falls,
And, Spring brings brighter sun,
She lets him know each time he calls,
His time with us is done.

Come play with fields your whitest snow,
Bring beauty for the hour,
I’ll waft these warmer winds to show,
The beauty of the flower.
