I See Your Hands
I see your hands,
Lady fingers,
Savored, slight and slender,
Feminine,
On the left a small imperfect stone,
As perfect as a poor boy could buy,
You said, “Yes”,
Two poor kids became rich beyond measure,
In love with the treasure of love itself,
Enmeshed with life’s involvement-
Ecstasy and intimacy,
Growth and pain,
Bitterness tendered with understanding,
Smiles and laughter,
And, God undergirding life’s plan,
And, God undergirding death’s plan, too,
I will love you,
Forever,
And, forever more!
