Thanksgiving Blessings
At last the pumpkin pie is in,
I reminisce and start to grin,
Now, far away our daughter called,
The family in the car enthralled.
Two nights ago the boys got packed,
Upon the map our house they tracked,
Excited for the trip were they,
And, now they’re finally on their way.
Both sleep upstairs; all safe in bed,
With dreams, all eager, in their head,
The turkey dressed by Grandma now,
As cats entwine with soft meow.
And, by her side her husband takes,
The bowl with flour and yeast he makes-
The dinner rolls his Grandma made,
As memories of his youth invade.
Not long from now the house will sing,
Throughout our home the halls will ring,
With children’s laughter here and there,
As parents set the tableware.
Now set, the family gathered in,
Thanksgiving dinner will begin,
But, first God’s grace which each one knows,
For every blessing He bestows!
