Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand

Hand in hand my babe are travelin’
Country roads; asphalt and gravlin’
Wintry wind bright, brisk and breezy,
Take it slow handle her easy.

Barren fields; horizons whitened,
Travelin’still; yet you are frightened,
Cargo gold, and some is silver,
You must go; you must deliver.

Turn ahead;  weather’s easin’,
Warmer winds; calmer season,
Summer birds they are nesting,
In your arms I am resting!

Hand in hand my babe are travelin’
Country roads; asphalt and gravlin’,
River slope tree lined and shady,
Safe once again with my lady.

When Family Works

When Family Works

When family works,
There are no shirks in responsibility,
Love rules,
Point and period,
And, period and point,
You wake with the sun,
Yet, if before the sun you must be the sun,
As bright as you can be,
So little ones can see,
Love,
Caring,
Hugs, and sharing,
Dry clothes,
More hugs, and cereal,
Eggs and bacon,
Toast and jelly,
Apples or orange juice,
Pancakes and syrup, too,
Whoo, whoo!
If blessings are few,
Then in review,
What must remain?
Closeness,
Hugs and hugs again,
Kisses anywhere on the head,
Tender hands upon the face of ones you adore,
And, say it if you have lips and tongue to speak it,
“I love you!”
If you cannot speak it say it with your eyes,
Twinkle it with a glint from your eye!
My grandson loves the song,
“Twinkle, twinkle, little star,”
Be that wonder,
Be that star,
For them,
If for no one else,
(But, hopefully for everyone else),
Be that twinkling star for them!

Snow Puffs

Snow puffs on my winter boots as I trudge out to see,
Snow puffs on the weeds and trees and all the scenery,
The beauty of this fluffy stuff,
This whitened woolen knitted muff,
For fairies hands from cuff to cuff,
It’s warm to us when weather’s rough,
It is enough, it is enough!
The Snow puffs meant for winter’s glee,
Snow puffs for you; snow puffs for me!

Peace Achieved

Peace Achieved

Peace,
 So near at hand,
It is not fleeting,
It must be grasped,
As if looking into a prism,
Turn it ever so slightly,
The rainbow appears,
It is easy to miss it,
If you rush,
It is as easy to sustain,
If you sit,
(So hard to do),
Take a breath,
Turn all your thoughts,
One quarter turn towards God,
Peace,
Love,
Achieved!

Grace

Grace
Number seven,
We’re in heaven,
Heads twirling,
Girling this year,
Two granddaughters,
(After five grandsons),
God is good,
Yet, Grace is not,
Yes, Grace is her name,
Still birth weight; a little more,
She likes to sleep,
She squeaks every breath she takes,
Her little arms uplifted high above her head to breathe,
She needs to eat to grow,
Rub her feet; get her naked,
Wake up every two hours,
Please eat, and don’t throw up,
Mom and Dad are up, up, up, too,
With you,
Exhausted, but loving you,
Doctors with God given skills attend,
And, attending to this Grace,
Who’s every cell,
The ten toes, ten fingers,
All God given, too,
The doctors can surely treat,
But, only God can heal,
So I will pray for,
Skill and understanding,
And, for Grace,
Tonight!
