My friend lost his mother; Lord what can I do,
To help in his pain, I must turn this to you,
For I’ve searched my own mind for the right words to say,
And I sense all the pain he is feeling today.
Lord, you must understand he’s the best friend I have,
And I feel I must give him a friend’s gentle salve,
To be the right person for him here and now,
Help shoulder his way, Lord, will you show me how?
I know where he is for my mother has died,
She fought very hard, yes, dear Lord how she tried,
To stay with her family here on this earth,
The place that she knew from the moment of birth.
The peace that I have is that Mom is close by,
Her laughter, her smile, and her jubilant high,
When ‘child’ needs his mother she’s right by his side,
And, this is what our Lord and God does provide.
My friend I will be there, that’s all I can give,
But, peace in your heart through these days which you live,
As you travel this time, friend, I want you to know,
That God; His son Jesus, they do love you so!
