Grandchildren

With joy a smile upon your child,
A pregnancy and you go wild,
You did not know the where or when,
But wonders do begin again.

Some tests and trials and sadness too,
When this one does not make it through,
But oh, the happiness and joy,
When birthed that little girl or boy.

There is a difference you see,
What future in expectancy,
A splash upon his little feet,
At first his Dad and ocean meet.

And you can only laugh and smile,
Loving grandkids all the while,
Birthday hats and swings and slides,
Carousels and horsey rides!

Yes, you can cuddle; tender hold,
Your grandchild in your arms enfold,
You feel elation deep within,
Your second life will now begin.
