By Your Side

New baby boy, just close your eyes,
I’ll sing you soft, sweet lullabies,
Your papa’s here and he will be,
Like me with you eternally.

You’re ours forever; here we go!
With little smiles, and eyes that glow,
But, soon you’ll hold your head upright,
And try to crawl right out of sight.

Yet, we’ll be here both night and day,
To hold you close, and watch you play,
These days we grasp for they will fly,
In time they all seem to whisk by.

“So baby, baby, look at me”,
“This is your Mama, can you see?”
“That through each rise or ebbing tide,”
“I’ll be forever by your side!”
