Br-r-r!

Br-r-r!

Freezing frozen in my bed,
Shriv’ring shoulders; frosty head,
Only thought to when I’m up,
Steaming coffee in my cup.

Grab the sweater; slippers don,
Put the boiling kettle on,
Took some pastry off the shelf,
Put outside; it frost’s itself.

Br-r-r it’s cold!

A King is Born Once More Today

A King is Born Once More Today

A King was born this glorious day,
In tiny hamlet far away,
The myriad prophets had foretold,
That God in man we would behold.

In husband Joseph’s lineage,
From David’s line the parentage,
A lowly maiden she did bear,
The Holy Spirit’s solo heir,

In faith like Abraham we rise,
To look once more in Jesus’ eyes,
A little babe born in a stall,
Hope of the world born for all.

A King is born once more today,
To take our every sin away,
For every Christmas is a start,
For Jesus born within each  heart!

Thanksgiving with Family

Thanksgiving with Family

Gather family; one and all,
‘Round the festive banquet hall,
Greet each one with hug and kiss,
Hearts o’er flow with inner bliss.

Touch a face with gentle hand,
Sense the warmth in smiles so grand,
Children cheer and swiftly race,
Toward their grandma’s soft embrace.

Aunts and uncles; cousins, too,
Catch up on their lives anew,
Reminisce the younger day,
And, fondly miss those passed away.

Turkey, gravy, pumpkin pie,
Savoring all with gleeful sigh,
Stories told ‘bout family,
Escapades and history.

‘Round the hearth we settle now,
As sun descends with final bow,
And, thanking God with inner prayer,
For our dear family gathered there!

My Girl in the Garden

My Girl in the Garden (Happy Birthday!)

I see you in the garden,
I see the girl I love,
The one I fell in love with,
You were seventeen,
And, it was September,
College days,
I was eighteen,
In November,
You were eighteen, too,
The same age as me,
In February I turned nineteen,
It would be nine more months,
Until we were the same age, again,
You have always called that,
An important nine months,
Younger than me, again,
I laugh every time I think of that,
You make me laugh,
You make me smile,
Happy Birthday, Sweetheart,
I love you,
My girl in the garden!
