Christmas Love

Christmas Love

O’ touch, O’ touch me Lord today,
In everything to see your way,
To do your will may I be driven.
Upon this path which you have given.

In all creation you impart,
Your signature in finest art,
Reminding me of your great love,
Which only comes from you above.

As humble; meek their prayer ascends,
At Christmas time what love descends,
To fill complete our wandering soul,
All hunger sated and made whole.

As Mary; Joseph travel now,
As baby Jesus born we bow,
Once more the distant star shines near,
We find its glow on our hearts here.

We thank you Lord for Jesus’ birth,
That every soul may know their worth,
In manger low we find our way,
You’ve touched me, touched me Lord today!

True Love II

True Love II

One cannot love fully another,
Until one loves God,
For God is love,
Until I knew God,
I only knew myself,
With so many limitations,
Obsessions,
I think I fancied after love,
Until I found you,
I knew a lusting love,
When I found you,
(Or, we found each other)
There was the first inkling,
Of something greater,
Something beyond,
Something more profound,
Than you and me,
More than a force,
But, forceful still,
An essence that binds,
But, unbound, too,
Boundless,
A love that transcends and envelopes,
At the same time,
It looks passed,
Faults,
Age,
Even beauty,
When we reach,
Upward,
Outward,
Toward God,
We find our self,
Our true self,
And, together,
Even if death separates us,
There will always be,
Because of God,
True love,
Eternally,
True love!

Christmas Tree Trimming

Christmas Tree Trimming

I hear her hum,
To her favorite Christmas music,
The barefoot girl I’ve known and knew,
Still on tiptoe reaching to place that ornament,
Until she says (with me reading in the other room),
“Could you help me put this one up there?”
“Right there; no there”,
I strung the lights earlier,
That’s my thing,
Until I say, “I’m done”,
She giggles, and says, “Really?”
And, I in a huff,
Gruffly finish the job I know I can do right,
As she softly tiptoes out of sight,
That’s right,
Done, now,
She smiles at the corner of the room,
Yes, done,
Once more,
And, later tonight,
We’ll sit and spoon,
Gaze upon the tree,
Pour over every memory,
Add a Christmas kiss or two,
And, bask in the glow,
Of Christmas,
Anew!
