Glorious Midsummer Day

Glorious Midsummer Day

All trumpets sounds with blare so clear,
The yellow horns in chorus ring,
Midsummer rounds with flare so dear,
Full orchestrated offering.

And, I with glee do hear the sounds,
The wren and sparrow join in song,
The grasses free with billowed rounds,
All nature swept in joyous throng.

The sunlit time in length of hours,
Make short the evening time away,
More time to gaze on beauteous flowers,
On glorious this midsummer day!

Inside Man (Outside Man)

Inside Man (Outside Man)

I love the indoors,
In school for three years,
Became a real home body,
I love the house,
Almost too much,
The weeds were getting to me,
Affecting my outside view,
Really getting to me,
The edges,
Rough,
Creeping inward,
Even though they were outside,
Time to get outside,
Again,
Grab a bucket,
Grab a trowel,
Grabbed a broom,
Walked outside,
Pulled a weed,
Pulled two,
Then I was into it,
Real sunshine on my back,
A new world,
Out there,
Felt good to be outside,
Fresh rain had made my job easier,
But, it was sunny and breezy,
Edges restored,
Both inside and outside,
Sunshine is glorious,
I want more,
Time to become,
An outside man,
Again!

Desiring

Desiring

Do I desire what’s here and now,
Or yearn to know what’s through the door,
Of what I see do I mere bow,
Ne’er taste the realm of evermore.

Philosophers through time assert,
Not one can ever demonstrate,
The satisfying sweet dessert,
Of rapture in our human state.

Oh, virtue ranks within our reach,
To higher goals we upward climb,
Great schools of thought some scholars teach,
To reach some realm through thought sublime.

Yet, all have chinks within the chain,
(And, some quite strange, we go too far),
But we should know, and not abstain,
To learn the facts and what they are.

How great the mind, but greater still,
One God who holds and e’er maintains,
One Christ, his Son, who has one will,
Forgiveness for our earthly stains.

Do I desire what’s here and now,
I yearn to go through Heaven’s door,
All praise to God, I humble bow,
All faith in Him for evermore!
