This is Us

This Is Us

I walked into that college room and you were there,
Your yellow T-shirt smiley guy looked up to glare,
And, I scanned down to see those flipper’d toes so bare,
Now this is us!

Now forty years of hugs and kisses every day,
I think with seven grand kids we are here to stay,
I’ll love you, love you, love you till we’re old and gray,
Now this is us!

Formed in Love

Formed in Love

I was formed in love,
Smiles and kisses,
Blisses beyond belief,
Intellect,
Ability to reason,
Originality,
Were praised,.
Never raised above,
Your ability,
To smile,
Your ability to hug,
Your ability to meet and greet,
Your ability to share,
We’ve heard,
“Don’t push!”
“Wait your turn!”
And,
“Love your neighbor!”
(I read a disturbing philosophy today)
(A man who felt others were better by virtue of intellect)
(My only thought was, “Shame on you!”)
(And, my Mom)
(Oh, she would have given you an earful).

Fear Not

Fear Not

Keep it simple,
Remember God,
Keep it vital,
Remember God,
Keep it real,
Remember God,
Keep it Loving,
Remember God,
Keep it Peaceful,
Remember God,
Keep it Holy,
Remember God,
Fear Not,
In Everything,
Remember God,
Remember God.

Candle Light

Candle Light

Dark descends upon us,
You love low lamps,
Cats curl,
You read by a table lamp,
I envision you,
In olden days,
With a candle stick,
Yes, with candle light,
We do light the fire,
In the winter,
We are pretty simple here,
And, as your pretty eyes fade,
Your low lamp is extinguished,
Some ink from my pen is pushed,
Onto parchment,
My candle,
Extinguished,
Cats curl,
I feel your hand,
Touch my shoulder,
As, dark descends,
I dissolve,
The only thing I feel,
Is Love.

Every Day

Every Day

Every day,
You pull me off the planet,
How did you do that?
I tried to pin it down,
Like a person with a “habit”,
They tell you to “journal it”,
Where do you start when you love someone?
The eyes,
 The Smile,
Cascading hair,
And, pretty soon,
It’s TMI,
(Too much information),
While were are still on the planet,
You could,
Walk me down,
To any beach,
Most are abandoned,
And, most are free,
At some time of day,
You have always loved the grasses,
Wind and water,
And barefooted,
We will walk,
 Hand in hand,
And, as the sun sets,
We would kiss,
As we have,
Since the day we met,
You will,
You still
Pull me off the planet,
Every day!
