Thanksgiving Time

Thanksgiving Time

May all God’s blessings send to thee,
To hearth and home and family,
True love, kind words and hugs abound,
And, laughter through the house resound.

The turkey’s dressed, the rolls now rise,
The front door rings with fond surprise,
And, memories will fill your mind,
With each one’s face and love you find.

It’s time to put all strife to bed,
To kiss the children on their head,
To play some games and giggle more,
To feel the warmth in hearts restore.

So ring the holiday’s bright bell,
(And, spin some yarns and stories tell),
Tis grand to feel the glow within,
All thanks to God for all he’s giv’n!

Crowns of Faith

Crowns of Faith

Run the race to win the prize,
Regardless of your strength or size,
The crown that lasts forevermore,
When Christ within our hearts adore.

When friends of faith surround us here,
We spread the Gospel far and near,
The crown that sees rejoicing grow,
When Christ within their souls know.

Discipleship is our desire,
Endurance with a burning fire,
The crown of glory here at last,
When Christ within our minds are cast.

Though others tear and oft demean,
No hardship felt in Heav’n unseen,
The crown of life is our firm ground,
When Christ’s within and faith is found.

So, Lord I give my life to you,
My heart, my mind, my soul be true,
The crown of righteousness e’er sought,
Through Christ’s atoning love He brought!

Good Cereal/Bad Cereal

Good Cereal/Bad Cereal

Second childhood, Cap’n Crunch,
Grab a handful, eat a bunch,
Breakfast was my healthy start,
Honed it to a well-fit art.

Quaker oats, Old Fashioned kind,
Peeled an apple of its rind,
Sliced and minced, into the pot,
Heat the water boiling hot.

Add some raisins for some fun,
Cook five minutes ‘til it’s done,
Another fruit, my only side,
Berries, orange they satisfied.

For months and months and then a slip,
Some Raisin Bran one grocery trip,
Life cereal was my next fall,
My “sugar high” in upward crawl.

But, Cap’n Crunch was the defeat,
(Last night it was an evening treat),
I brought it home, my wife was pale,
I said, “We saved! It was on sale!”
