Hint of Autumn

Hint of Autumn

Did you note the chill today,
That fascinating thrill today,
A hint of autumn in the air,
A slip of summer everywhere.

E’en captured in her dress’s folds,
The tiny bits of autumn golds,
Soft yellow aura; inner threads,
On inward still the auburn reds.

Oh, sweep me up, as up I climb,
In subtle draft of change sublime,
As summer spins in final dance,
She flirts with fall in rapt romance.

The Aim of Life

The Aim of Life

The aim of life is not our own,
But, love for all through Christ alone.

Grandchildren at the Zoo

Grandchildren at the Zoo

Who is going to lead the way,
Through the zoo this lovely day,
Sister runs on tippy toe-
Golden hair on breezes blow.

Brothers’ squabble; “Follow me”,
“Grandpa, Grandma, come and see”,
See the camels over there,
Tamarin in branches bare.

Mothers with their strollers walk,
Papas with their babies talk,
Giggles; laughter proffered free,
Twinkling eyes and sparkling glee!

At the fountain; need a drink,
Miles walked the shoulders sink,
Zoo train ride the final flair,
Watch the cougars as they stare!

Pass the twirling carousel,
Passerby’s wave fare-thee-well,
Who is going to lead the way,
Through the zoo this lovely day!

What’s Right is Right

What’s Right is Right

The “rights of man”; a common song,
What’s right is right, what’s wrong is wrong,
Eradicate the king and myth,
To find the core of firmer pith.

The duty of the moral code,
The stallion white on which we’ve rode,
Yet, who’s the king or queen of this,
Fine government to rule in bliss?

In hist’ry searched from front to back,
We find a dismal dire lack,
There’s One in all humility,
Who died for all humanity,

A servant Lord who came for all,
Who dredged us from our inner pall,
It’s not what code we should pursue,
But, Christ within the heart of you.

Grace of God

Grace of God

The grace of God in all we know,
Is found within the weak and low,
Our suff’ring sin; our bitter loss,
Subsumed by One upon the cross.

All glory in what man may laud,
Does pale beneath the grace of God,
All praise for what He’s done for thee,
Incarnate Word upon that tree.

Oh, happy man; each one in kind,
Once free of sin’s demanding bind,
Once free to live each joyous day,
Once free in Christ; the one true way!
