My God, My God

My God, My God

My God, My God,
Eternal Thou,
Creator not Created,
Before time, space and matter,
In all things,
Known and unknown,
By your almighty hand,
My trust is in You,
And, only You,
You,
Who by your very will,
Breathed life into existence,
Gave every man,
Every woman,
The chance,
The choice,
To know you,
To love you,
To be in eternal relationship with you,
Give me the strength,
Give me the wisdom,
Give me the courage,
To do Your will,
Today,
And, every day,
Assurance of salvation,
By your will designed,
Is our faith in You,
Faith in You,
My God,
My God!

Holy Spirit Descend

Holy Spirit Descend

Though doubt and fear may capture me, as if I’m lost at sea,
The Holy Spirit here abides when I reach out to Thee.

On Pentecost five thousand souls were in Jerusalem,
When Peter spoke the Holy fire descended down on them.

Jesus our Christ he promised us the Holy Spirit comes,
Repent of sin through faith in Him all doubt and fear succumbs.

Dear Holy Spirit now descend as prophets would decree,
To open eyes which are so blind; to set the captive free.

The Father, Son and Holy Ghost our God the Three-in-One,
With faith in God my soul’s secure and now the victory’s won.

Homebound

Homebound

Wend the wistful days away,
Drab and drear the driven rain,
Where the mind goes out to play,
Amongst the clouds on heaven’s plain.

Narnia in closet nooks,
Shakespeare’s Hamlet ghostly haunts,
Treasure Island, pirate hooks,
Or, Holmes with clever clues he flaunts.

I’m never ever trapped inside,
On swift adventure I am bound,
On poet’s wings I often glide,
Or deep in caves with treasure found.

With power gone a candle wick,
With scour scan the library,
As fingers turn the pages quick,
The lost is found and fancy free!

Your Mother’s Hands

Your Mother’s Hands

You have your mother’s hands,
I noticed it when you reached across the table,
Mother’s Day,
As it turns out,
Much younger, of course,
But, I’ve been  blessed with memory,
So have you,
I’ve knew your Mom and Dad a long time,
Since you were a teenager,
Mom in the kitchen,
Making dinner,
Or for that matter,
Breakfast and lunch, too,
Delicate hands,
They matched her frame,
Busy and skillful,
Always writing,
Always creating,
And, always, always loving,
She placed those hands on everyone she loved,
You do that, too,
You have,
Your mother’s hands,
Your hands,
Beautiful,
Loving hands!
