The Spark - Sonnet V

I saw one spark today upon the snow,
It is what God put into me to gain,
Yet others would extinguish; help it wane,
The spark is not an image; heavens no,
No force could put it out or make it grow,
Nor blot it out as if it were a stain,
The spark does keep me happy and quite sane,
I glint, a song, an ember burning low,
I think the spark is shared when people meet,
I don’t quite know what happens or the how,
But it will brighten every corner dark,
And take you to the height of Heaven’s seat,
I’m gladdened every day and even now,
Today upon the snow I saw one spark.
