I Am in Awe of Parents
I am in awe of parents,
Young parents and old,
But, especially the young,
They raise our next generation.
I am blessed,
All of my children are parents,
All of their spouses (whom I consider my adoptive
children) are the BEST,
I see young mothers, who are patient and constant,
I see young fathers, who are loving; yet firm,
And, both mother and father are the above and a mix,
An amalgamation of the partnership built on love,
Children’s laughter,
Children’s humor,
You look at them as if into a mirror,
They throw at you what you throw at them,
You take a collective breath,
(Sometimes you have to bite your tongue, and swallow
laughs…he-he),
Yet, sometimes you just laugh out loud,
They look at you,
And, laugh, too!
Family stuff; inside jokes.
It makes life the BEST it can be!
But, the profound,
The seriousness of illness,
“Bugs” of every sort invade these babes,
Rashes, and ill tummies,
Moods that can be deep, and dark,
Any system can fail in them as in us,
And, parents,
Ah, our parents,
Deal with everything,
Twenty-four seven,
Our only hope is that Heaven comes to us before them.
If not; we must carry on,
Little ones in our care,
Want to know joy in THEIR life, too!
I am in awe of parents!
