Holding Hands

That jump,

That thrill of not knowing,

Yet knowing, too,

Will she take your hand?

Fingers flailing forward,

Fumbling,

Senses pulsing,

Proprioceptors,

Location nerves knowing-

Where her finger tips are,

The tease,

That light touch and withdrawal,

The move to touch,

A quick move away,

Yet, not too long to touch again,

Two minds reeling,

Universes colliding,

Universes collapsing,

I am independent,

I want this,

I want her,

More importantly,

She seems to want me, too,

Fingers meld,

Hands held,

Facing forward,

Neither accepting,

Neither rejecting,

A relationship,

Which began,

Long before,

Eons before,

Our fingers touched.
