Happy Anniversary
(or Forty Years)
Forty years how
can it be?
Why you were just
a bride-to-be,
White satin shoes
on satin’d aisle,
With loving eyes
and dazzling smile.
Oh beauteous bride
whom I adore,
How can it be I’d
love you more?
Two simple kids;
one girl one boy,
God bound two
hearts with one pure joy!
Adventure bound
the two of us,
We’ll take a
plane, or train or bus,
If penniless we’ll
take a walk,
And, just like us
we’ll talk and talk.
Come take my hand,
and hold me tight,
This night we’ll
dance by pale moonlight,
Our forty-first
we’ve now begun,
Oh, come on girl;
let’s have some fun!
